I liked the Brian Clay video. I agree world class decathlon athletes are the best but with that said ...... I'm not sure the best athletes are always involved in world class decathlons.
Hope that makes since ;(
As noted in video, Brian Clay said that decathlon athletes do not get much glory (financial or media) so why would a world class athlete participate in this track and field event. Most will go to sports that they do not need to showcase all of their "athetic" skills and make the $$$$$.... Football, Baseball, basketball, soccer, other pro sports. I would think that there are professional football athletes that would they consider to concentrate on the decathlon would excel also but choose not to because of the $$$.
Good point, c-rad. Not a whole lot of $$ in the decathlon business (especially in the U.S.). Japan and Eurpoe have a little more to offer in the way of pro track & field opps, but nowhere close to the NBA, NFL, etc. I'm not a huge fan of the NBA, but the impressive overall athleticism of nearly every player in the league is undeniable.
